Dental Plans
The County of Summit offers you and your eligible dependents two dental plan options through MetLife, the PPO Plan and the MAC Plan.
MetLife PPO PLAN: With the PPO Plan, you may visit any dentist. However, you will pay less out-of-pocket when you choose an in-network PPO dentist, as in-network dentists have agreed to accept negotiated rates.
MetLife MAC PLAN: With the MAC Plan, you may also visit any dentist. However, out-of-network benefits are limited to MetLife's maximum allowable charge (MAC) fee schedule. If your dentist charges more than the allowable amount, you are responsible for paying the difference. This is known as balance billing and can result in higher out-of-pocket costs when visiting an out-of-network provider.
Finding an In-Network Dentist: To find out if your dentist is in the MetLife MAC Plan Network, visit MetLife.com and search using County of Summit or call MetLife customer service. Be sure to search using PDP Plus Network.
Dental ID Cards: Dental ID cards are digital; no printed cards are issued. You can access your digital ID card by downloading the MetLife mobile app or logging into your account on MetLife’s website.
