We thank County Executive Ilene Shapiro and her staff for creating this partnership and giving employees the opportunity to participate in the race series without it being an expense to the employee. The Akron Marathon has instituted a June 1st deadline for all registration codes for reimbursement purposes; however, this dates has been extended. Please be sure to register prior to the Akron Marathon deadlines below:

    • Goodyear Half & 10k: August 5th by 11:59 pm
    • FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relay: September 22nd by 11:59 pm

This date also allows for a commitment by the runner to ensure the proper training period leading up to the race.

If creating a relay team, please see details below:

    • The employee registers as the Team Captain and uses their own network of colleagues, friends or family to join their team. County employees would be free, and others would have to pay the entry fee. Teams can be all employees, or a mix of employees and family and friends. The employees would be the ones that enter the code to get the free entry.
    • If the employee cannot find team members on their own, we have an Akron Marathon Team Builder facebook group. Runners looking for a team can post something like: "I am a recreational runner looking for someone to run the 4.8 mile leg of the relay for fun" or " I am looking for a competitive runner to run the final 4.8 mile leg of the Akron Marathon Relay at a 7:00 mile pace", etc.

The Akron Marathon is unable to refund participants who register and pay prior to using the code so it is important to distribute the code prior to the launch of registration and at your earliest convenience.

The Akron Marathon has instituted a June 1st deadline for all registration codes. This date also allows for a commitment by the runner to ensure the proper training period leading up to the race.
